Bangarra Theatre – An Act of Being, Vivid Sydney 2025

This year, we had the privilege of collaborating with Bangarra Theatre on An Act of Being for Vivid Sydney 2025.
The work commemorates the 25th anniversary of the People’s Walk for Reconciliation across Sydney Harbour Bridge — a landmark moment in our nation’s story.
Directed by the exceptional Frances Rings and Cass Eipper, the project was both an artistic and personal honour to be part of. Visual Monkey was engaged as consultant, art director, and motion designer, working in close collaboration with Tom Spiers, who delivered the VFX with incredible craft and precision.
The production combined striking live-action sequences — beautifully captured by DOP Tony Luu — with dancers performing in studio and on bungees. Our role spanned shoot supervision, previs, design, animation, compositing, through to final delivery and on-site technical checks to ensure the work projected flawlessly across four screens.
The result: a technically demanding and creatively ambitious six-minute performance, synchronised seamlessly across four 6-metre GhostMesh screens.
A huge thank you to the Bangarra team for their trust and vision, and to Leon Rodgers for his powerful score, which grounded the work with resonance and emotion.
